Joseph Rascoe 83 of 136 South St Champlain died Monday Oct 8, 2012 at Albany Medical Center.
He was born in Saranac on Nov 28, 1928, son of the late Guy and Anna (Reyell) Rascoe. Joe served his country with the US Army, where he served during the Korean War era.
Joe married Theresa (Duteau) on June 23, 1953 she predeceased him on Oct 14, 1999.
He worked at Ayerst Lab (Pfizer) for 33 years until his retirement in 1990. Joe enjoyed being outdoors, particularly in the summer months, when he would spend many hours in his garden picking his berries, feeding and watching his birds and using his outdoor equipment. For the last 13 years he had help doing these jobs with his caregiver and niece, Nancy Lafave and good friend, Harry Boire.
Two brothers survive him, Clarence Rascoe of Keene, Irvin Rascoe of Saranac, sister-in-law Margaret Rascoe, brother-in-law Curtis Plumadore, and several nieces and nephews.
Beside his parents and wife he predeceased by two sisters Hazel Rascoe, and Rose Plumadore, one brother Richard Rascoe, sister-in laws and brother-laws Arthur & Doris Picard, Leonard & Marion Patnode, and Sister-in-laws Theresa & Catherine Rascoe.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at St Mary's Church in Champlain on Saturday Oct 20 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on Church St. in Champlain.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St Mary's Church in Champlain or the Champlain Fire Dept.
