I remember Mr. Roland as a man who gave me a wonderful compliment and kind word that had an impact on me. He told me that I delivered 'fine service' to him when he came once to our family business, the Mon Amour Lodge in Placid in the early 1980's. To this day, when I get exceptional service from someone I repeat his complimentary words that Mr. Roland gave me: 'Fine service'. I also remember when I was an Official Olympic Hostess dining with other Hostesses at the Hilton during the Olympics. Victoria A. Kelly, Albany, NY.

A great guy! I worked for him during the summer of 1977 at both the Lakeside & the Homestead. He shared some of his flying experiences when he heard that I was learning at Saranac Lake.

My sincere condolences for your loss. I called on Peter at the Homestead when I worked for Frosted Foods. He was ever the gentleman and loved to talk about his annual spring ski trips to Kitzbuhel! Later when I was working on my MBA at Clarkson I decided to do a paper on the geographic profile of the visitors to Lake Placid. I approached Peter about it and he was a tremendous help.

In memory of Mr. Roland,
I had the honor of meeting Mr Roland in 1989. My business partner Chuck Lyon and I were given the opportunity to bid on a flooring job at the Hilton. I was introduced to Mr Roland by Jack Irvin.
After some discussion on types of carpet and how many rooms Young Lyon could complete, we shook hands and that was that. No signed contract, just a hand shake and
Young Lyon took on the biggest carpet job in our young history and probably still to this day. He certainly was a man of his word.
To finish on this matter, Mr. Roland mentioned in a casual matter as I was pumped up and headed out his office door, "Mr. Young, if things don't go to plan, you may not be in business very long". I remember looking at him and then at Jack (as Jack had that look of Jack) and I responded to Mr. Roland, they will go to plan. I know we did those rooms at least one more time before it was sold. We developed a great business relationship and respect for each other.
I was very happy to have met and do business with Mr. Roland. Our condolences to his entire family and friends.....RIP Mr. Roland

Dear Roland family,
We are saddened to hear of your Dad's passing, but perhaps it was a blessing - the end of a long full life. I know that he was a big part of my Dad's feeling comfortable in Lake Placid, a good friend over the decades, and we treasure having you as neighbors at Connery Pond. Thank you for all you do and have done to help with making that such a special place for all of us in the Roland Beatty Bergamini families.
Your Dad was always a friendly smiling face, a great story teller, he encouraged us to talk and was interested in our lives. He did so much for the community, and was a great ambassador of the region. I'm sure you will all miss him, but are thankful for all he gave you. Please feel free to stop in anytime at Connery or Ticonderoga.
Our best to each of you,
big hugs,
Malinda Bergamini Chapman and family

Peter and family,
Here is a life to be celebrated. Lake Placid owes a debt of gratitude for his accomplishments in the community. How lucky we are to have had such a person among us. So sorry to hear of his passing. I worked with and for him in a variety of projects over the years and will miss him. Let me know if there is ever anything I can do...
Respectfully,
Mike Saulpaugh

I worked for Mr. Roland for nearly 20 years at both the Homestead and Lake Placid Hilton. I can count on one hand the men who most influenced my life-Mr. Roland was one of them.
