Rich was a great guy! I got to know him during the years when he lived at Saranac Village at Will Rogers and saw him a few times since. You could see the grief and sadness that weighed heavily on Rich, as they would have weighed heavily on any of us. But he kept smiling as best he could and maintained his kindly interest in my wife, Debbie, who runs the activities programs at Will Rogers, our two children, and me. The last time I saw him, I was bringing my daughter to a doctor's appointment, and Rich was wheeling himself out. I had a sense that he might not have had good news. There was more sadness than usual on his face. Yet he was delighted to be recognized and remembered, and in an instant, he was smiling and expressing interest in my family and me and his old friends at Will Rogers. Rich was a good guy to the core. He did not deserve the bad luck that came his way. But he shouldered it with grace and dignity. Warm regards to all his family and friends. We'll miss Rich and remember him fondly.
