Obituary of David Edwin Edgley

David Edwin Edgley, 88, a lifelong resident of Lake Placid, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lake Placid on April 2, 1930, the oldest of three sons, born to Raymond R. and Rose Garneau Edgley.

Dave graduated from the Lake Placid High School, Class of 1948, along with his high school sweetheart and later his wife of 67 years, Lorraine Bannerman. They were married at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid on September 3, 1949.

Dave spent the majority of his working years as a clerk and accountant for the US Postal Service in Lake Placid, retiring in 1992. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed hunting and fishing and pretty much any athletic event. He was a talented carpenter and woodworker - he loved projects and tinkering. There was no better pinochle player. He was soft spoken but strong and had an endless love for his family.

He is survived by his children: a daughter, Cindy Gallagher and her partner John Mathiason; a son, Ron and his wife Beth; three granddaughters: Kirsten (Donovan DeMacy), Erika (Lowell Bailey) and Holli (Chris Neill) as well as 3 great granddaughters, Etta and Gwen Neill and Ophelia Bailey. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Joe and Ray (Virgie), in-laws Millie and Stan VanCour, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine, his parents, Ray and Rose Edgley, son-in-law Jim Gallagher and in-laws Winnie and Tom VanCour.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date. The M. B. Clark Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
