Claire (White) Mader died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, May 19, 2018 in Sarasota, Florida.
She was born February 1, 1913 to John and Elsie (Lewis) White in Lake Placid, NY. Her parents ran the general store on Mill Hill. She graduated from Lake Placid High School and went on to work in the Office of Price Administration in charge of ration books during World War 2. She started work at The Bank of Lake Placid in 1943 and later became an officer. She was president of many organizations including Hospital Auxiliary, Garden Club of Lake Placid and Garden Club of Sarasota Florida. She was a Hospice volunteer and knitted caps for troops (Beanie Babes) to wear under their helmets. Claire painted, did needlepoint, and enriched the lives around her by her intelligence, wit, and fun spirit and generosity. This certainly barely sums up her life.
She is predeceased by her husband Frederick Mader, his son Frederick, her sisters Eleanor White Small, Roberta White, and her brother Jack White, her stepson Paul Mader, grandson P.K. Mader and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter in law Jeanne Randall Mader, grandchild Susan Mader MacLennan, her children Duncan and Claire MacLennan, her granddaughter in law Eileen Mader Liseno, and her sons, Justin and Nolan Mader, and the children and grandchildren of her sister Eleanor.
A memorial service was held at Bay Village in Sarasota Florida on May 23rd. A memorial service will be held in Lake Placid New York sometime in the summer.
