Obituary of Eva Mary Pelkey
Eva Mary Daby Pelkey, 97, passed away on July 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family in Lake Placid, NY. She was born on September 7, 1920 in Lake Placid, NY to David and Hazel Alford.
Eva grew up in Lake Placid, NY. She graduated from Lake Placid High School in Lake Placid, NY in 1938. She worked for Country Cousins as a secretary for many years. She also worked at Lake Placid High School as the secretary to the principal for many years.
Eva married her first husband Clyde Daby in 1939 in Lake Placid, NY. They were happily married for 25 years when Clyde had passed away. Eva then married Stanley Pelkey in 1973 in Phoenix, AZ. They were happily married for 25 years when he passed away in 1998. She enjoyed reading, various crafts, playing Skipbo, telling stories from her time growing up on the farm and being with friends and family.
Eva is survived by her son Dale Daby (Sandra) of Lake Placid, NY; 2 step-daughters; her grandchildren Donna Daby, Dawn Daby Fitzpatrick (Timothy), Stefanie Daby, Toni Daby Vincent (Peter), David Daby (Wendy), Beth Daby; 5 step-grandchildren; her six great grandchildren and her two great-great grandchildren; and other cousins.
Eva was preceded in death by her father David Alford; her mother Hazel Morehouse Alford; her step-mother Rowena Sherman Alford; her first husband Clyde Daby; her second husband Stanley Pelkey; her brother William Alford; her son David Daby; her daughter-in-law Nita Richardson Daby; great-granddaughter Sierra Vincent; and several close friends and relatives.
There will be no viewing hours. A Funeral Service will be held at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid on Monday July 9, 2018 at 11am. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery with a memorial and reception held at 6012 Sentinel Rd. Lake Placid following internment.
