Obituary of Agatha Rita Dubois

Please share a memory of Agatha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of Agatha Dubois (Babbie) of Champlain, NY announces her passing after a brief illness on Saturday, July 14 at the age of 95 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, William "Joe" Dubois, her brother Wendell Babbie, children Sharron (Rick) LaVenture, William (Lydia) Dubois, Susan (Jack) MaWhinney, Ricky (Kay) Dubois, and Tami (David) Trembley her 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Agatha was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Hazel (Rushlow) Babbie, her brothers Alfred "Sonny," Gerald and Jimmy and her sisters Irene Roberts, Lilah Stiles, and Vivian Bement. Agatha was born April 19, 1923 in Mooers, NY and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1940 before embarking on a career as a bookkeeper for several firms in Champlain, NY, retiring from F.W. Myers in 1985. She always enjoyed working with numbers. She lived most of her life in the hamlet of Perrys Mills where she kept an immaculate home while working full time and raising her five children. In her free-time she enjoyed trips to the casino and loved bingo. Agatha was humble and probably never considered the mark she made during her lifetime. Yet, her mark is considerable. Through the devoted care and stability she and her husband so lovingly provided to their children and grandchildren, and the great example they always set, she added immensely to this world. Her children and grandchildren are her legacy. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7pm, Tuesday, July 17 at Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Agatha on Wednesday, July 18, at 10:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Champlain EMS. The family also wishes to express deep appreciation for the loving care given Agatha by the fifth-floor staff at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital. Their kindness brought a sense of peace to her final hours.
