I just had my yearly Christmas card returned by the mail and realized that Trapper was gone. I spent many of my summers riding my horse Kodiak with Trapper and Hedy on the farm in Jay. I enjoyed knowing Melissa as a baby and toddler, although she may not remember me. I know why her father chose her name and it always made me smile.
Trapper was a man with heart under his sometimes gruff exterior. He took to the horses like an Adirondack cowboy. I had a long phone chat with him after he lost Hedy, and I had planned to visit with him to this coming summer while in Lake Placid.
To Melissa and family, much love and my deepest condolences for your loss.
