Obituary of Norma Marion Barcomb
Norma M. Barcomb, 80, of Champlain passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at UVM-CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Ellenburg, NY on January 22, 1938 to the late Louis and Elizabeth “Bessie” Pelkey.
Norma married Lawrence “Frenchie” Barcomb on June 8th, 1957. Together, they raised three sons; Randall, Bruce, and James. Norma and Larry opened Barcomb’s TV & Furniture in Champlain, Chateauguay and Plattsburgh. In their retirement years, they were fortunate enough to spend the winter months in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Norma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Randy and Tuesday Barcomb of Champlain, and son James of Plattsburgh. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law Pamela Barcomb of Champlain. Norma adored her grandchildren Tim and his wife Brittany, Mike and his wife Maiko, and Ryan Barcomb and Matt and Brittany Godreau. She is also survived by five great grandchildren Makenna, Huntley, Emma, Anna and Carter. She also leaves behind three very special friends, Kathy, Denise and Kellie.
Norma was predeceased by her husband Lawrence “Frenchie” Barcomb, a son Bruce Barcomb, her father Louis Pelkey, her mother Elizabeth “Bessie” Castine, and brothers Carl and Gerald Pelkey.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Coopersville, NY. Donations in her memory may be made to the Champlain Fire Department.
