I am saddened by the loss of yet another dear member of my extended Ashline family, Uncle Jake, and before him, my Uncle Roland, and first, my own father, Douglas. And while it has not been often in recent years that I’ve spent time with Uncle Jake and Aunt Jenny, or Uncle Roland and Aunt Cynthia, I always remember all of them with great fondness from my youth and teenage years. It takes an enduring and committed love and great strength to weather this dreadful and relentless disease, and it’s a testament to the power of their families – all the Ashline families – to live through this hell with empathy, compassion, and the endless support that is necessary. I met Jake in 2012 when I was an intern at Miner Institute. He was a great teacher, and showed patience and encouragement when I was learning to operate the cropping equipment. The hands-on experiences in farming he gave led to opportunities that have taken me far and wide in the agricultural and dairy industries, and his influence is apparent in my work today. I’m sure his other students over the years would join me in our appreciation for his kindness and wisdom. My deepest condolences to Jared, and all of Jake’s family. Rest In Peace, Jake.

My heart is breaking for everyone who knew and loved him. I remember going over one year for Thanksgiving, and even though I didn't know anyone there or remember them, he made me feel so welcome.

Our condolences to Genny and family. We always had the greatest respect and appreciation for Jake. One of the nicest neighbors we could ask for. Farming brought us together, the ice storm even closer. When someone like Jake suffers from a disease like this, it tears your heart out. Genny your love and patience for Jake is a love that not many people experience.

Jake was a kind, hardworking man. He was the best father-in-law we could have ever asked for our daughter, and a loving g-pa to our granddaughter.
He always accepted our entire family as part of his. He will be sorely missed.

So very sad to hear this, but so glad for Jake that he is free from that awful disease. He had the best of care from his family, and you should be so proud of giving him that. Jake was always an honest, polite, fun-loving, smart man, and an awesome farmer. We can all recall the fun years when our kids were all at St. Mary's......great times.
