Obituary of Ward H. Dwight
Ward H. Dwight, Jr., 86, of Chazy, New York passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. He was born on May 31, 1932 in Holcomb, New York to the late Ward H. Dwight, Sr (who was a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) and Neva (Appleton) Dwight.
Ward graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1951. He married Patricia A. Favreau in Chazy at the Methodist Church on January 28, 1957. They were married nearly 60 years. Ward and Patricia were wonderful people with giving spirits. Shortly thereafter they moved to Connecticut where Ward was employed at United Nuclear until 1973. They moved back to Chazy where Ward was employed at Pole Light and Harris Bindery in Champlain, and lastly JCEO in Plattsburgh.
For many years Ward was involved as a volunteer fire fighter for the Chazy Fire Department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with many fond memories of times spent at camp with family and friends. He was also a devoted Boston Red Sox and New York Giants fan. His hobbies include painting, playing cards and assembling puzzles. Ward will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Ward is survived by his loving family which includes his daughter Shari and son-in-law Darren Butchino of Dannemora; his sister Sue and brother-in-law Paul Raymond of Oswego; his grandchildren Nicole and Ian Curtis of Peru, and Dominica Butchino of Plattsburgh. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren Damian, Mercedes and Makenzie Curtis, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Ward was predeceased by his parents, his wife Patricia, sister Cheryl Pilon, brother David Dwight and his nephew Doug Pilon.
Calling Hours will be held at M. B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm Street, Champlain, NY on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Parish in Chazy, NY at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 27, 2018 followed by a reception at the Weathercock Restaurant & Bar.
Ward’s family would like to extend their appreciation of the care and professionalism given by the doctors and staff on the first floor at Alice Hyde Hospital. Donations may be made to the Chazy Fire Department. Arrangements are in the care of M. B. Clark Funeral Home.
