I studied ballet with Mrs. Jackstadt in the late 70s and early 80s. She was an excellent teacher. Precise and kind. Even though I was just a child, she suggested I study Tai Chi. I didn’t listen, but later when I learned meditation and it became an important part of my day, I understood how perceptive she was.

We were good friends with Virginia, Yockie and their kids from the time we arrived in Lake Placid and Northwood School in 1972. Yockie and I were faculty member colleagues and Virg served as hostess and matriarch in her splendid Signal Hill homestead. She was always bright, quick-witted and was one of the most insightful observers of people we knew. She was a generous, kind and welcoming person who always managed to keep the world's trials and turbulence in perspective.
We will miss you, Virginia.
