I am out of town so unable to attend services but want to send my deepest condolences to Denny’s family and friends. I have known Denny most of my life. Our parents were friends. My sister one of Denny’s earliest friends. Many a day spent at the Allen home when I was little. Only to reconnect later in life when I moved back to the Lake Placid area.
Sending hugs and support. Thinking about you in this time of sorrow. He will be greatly missed.
Hugs Kim

Denny was a one of a kind, he had the heart of gold, compassion, loyalty and trust you just don't find anymore. Denny always found the good in everyone and every situation, No matter what he was doing or where you saw him he always asked how things were going and had a smile. He leaves behind a hole that can never be filled. R.I.P Denny you will be missed.

Denny was one-of-a-kind. He was a true gentleman but sure knew how to be a great boss and run a tight, successful ship. He was optimistic, compassionate, loyal, generous, and always smiling. He certainly left a beautiful mark on Lake Placid and will always be fondly remembered.

It’s impossible to imagine Lake Placid and the Olympic Center without Denny. He was a pillar. He made it all happen - everything and anything - with kindness and grace. Denny, and his father before him, were constants in my skating life and the memories of them both, during times training as a child, and later launching shows, run deep. I’m now especially grateful to have reconnected with Denny for Katia Gordeeva’s ‘From the Heart’ just a few years ago. He was such a good man. My sincere condolences to his family.

Denny, I was shocked to learn of your passing and have no words to express the heart break. I have so many wonderful memories while we live next door as neighbors on good old Old Military Road. Now you can join the rest of the Lake Placid crew in Heaven and like them, be OUR Guardian Angles from above. The Village has truly lost an icon that can never be replace. Your Family, Friends, any and all who know you will always treasure you and have beautiful memories. Yes it is sad that you have passed but I believe that we celebrate your life instead of morning, I know you would not want everyone to be sad. Rest Well Denny Allen, until we meet again. Godspeed!!

Back in the late 1950’s Denny, Rick and I played together practically every day. We rode stick horses, built forts everywhere and roamed our neighborhood. We were welcomed everywhere (I think). Gloria always had a smile and a snack. Mr. Fadden shared his garden goodies and Mrs. Fadden blessed us with her doughnuts. What a great and adventurous childhood! And what a good friend Rick & I had in Denny. We will miss you...

What a great loss for the Olympic region and the Olympic world. Denny was a consummate gentleman and a great leader. A mentor to many. He cared about his community and was the torchbearer of the Allen dynasty, fostering ice hockey locally and internationally.
Among his most proud moments was when he received a phone call from the 1998 gold medal women's ice hockey team in Nagano thanking him for his personal support to help ensure their success. He was well respected by his peers world-wide for his understanding of ice sports and answered their request in 2000 to serve as the International Skating Union's lead ice expert at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. He was a proud Lake Placid guy making a difference on the world stage.
Among my many memories of working with Denny for 15 years was his support for the countless Corporate Olympic Challenges and two NYS Torch relays we conducted. Denny was always ready for the next adventure with a healthy sense of skepticism and a great (and dry) sense of humor. He always answered the call when he could do you a favor. It was an honor to call him a friend. He will be missed, but not forgotten. May he rest in peace.

Terrible news about this fine gentleman passing from our midst at a much too youthful age. His retirement was way too brief as he had wonderful plans to continue serving the community he loved. There is good news though as he joins his mother and father in eternal peace and life. A remarkable family serving selfishly has left a positive mark on Lake Placid. Privileged to have known Denny and his folks just as my folks did.

One of the greatest pleasures in my life and working career was to have the privilege to be a colleague, friend and confidant of Denny Allen. As the Director of Marketing & Advertising for ORDA for twenty years, working closely together, we had the opportunity to produce and conduct hundreds of activities, from small private skating parties to world class televised spectacles. Denny always treated all activities, all of the participants, all of the crew/staff/fans, all the time, with kindness, fairness, respect and professionalism, setting the positive example for ALL to follow. It goes without saying that Denny will be missed, but I know for me and everyone who really knew him, his example of how to live your true life will last forever...TB

I first met Denny when I assumed my position as hockey coach and teacher at Northwood School in1972. I worked closely with his father, Bob, in his capacity as 1932 Arena Manager and met Denny while working with Bob. I also watched Denny grow as a hockey player for the Blue Bombers and later on at St. Lawrence.
When he took over for his dad, Denny carried out his duties with professionalism, attention to detail and a universal respect for all his clients. He was truly an ambassador for Lake Placid. His love for his hometown and all that it represents welcomed generations to the village and its venues.
Denny, your Olympic spirit will always live on.
We offer our thoughts and prayers to your family at this most difficult time.
