Please share a memory of Colleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Colleen Irvin of Lake Placid passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Born in Palmerton, PA August 10, 1931, she grew up in Palmerton and went on to graduate from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She was employed by DuPont after graduation and then became a stewardess with Eastern Airlines. She left Eastern and moved to Lake Placid in 1955 because she wanted to learn to ski. She married her husband, Jack, in 1957. Colleen and Jack later built Lake Placid's first fast food restaurant, Custard Mustard N Brew. Its success was attributed to Colleen's dedication and the fun work environment she created. Colleen enjoyed all of the activities that Lake Placid offers including hiking the 46 peaks, most of them twice, cross country skiing, and instructing at Whiteface Mountain. She was an avid tennis and paddle ball player and is well known for her love of animals. Her "bird buffet" was often used by the Audubon Society to study bird patterns in the Adirondacks. She will be remembered by her family and friends as dynamic and unique women who touched many people in the community and lived life to its fullest. Colleen is survived by her husband, Jack, and her children Jack Jr., Claire (Rai) and her husband Kuljeet, Tom, MaryJane (Lawrence) and her husband Don and 5 grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters MaryJane Pocalyko of Florida and Rose Sosik of Pennsylvania. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A celebration of Colleen's life will be held At the Dock in the Summer of 2013. Friends and relatives are invited to "light a candle" and share a memory, thought and prayer at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers, donations in Colleen's memory can be made to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society. . .
