Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth Jane (Betty) Wilson, 93 of Lake Placid, N.Y., passed away on March 20, 2019 in Elderwood of Uuilein in Lake Placid. A celebration of her life will be held in the early summer at the convenience of her family. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery. Arrangements are by M.B. Clark Funeral Home. Betty was born on April 17, 1926 in Saranac Lake, N.Y. to Francis and Eva Hennessey. She attended St. Bernard's School and the Saranac Lake Central School. During the war, she followed news of her beloved brother Bill who was a pilot in the Air Force. After high school Betty was employed as a stewardess. She flew around the country with two World War II veteran pilots. Those experiences fed her lifelong love of airplanes and flight. Betty also attended college in New York to study fashion. On his birthday, June 4, 1949, she married Calvin C. Wilson in St. Bernard's Church, Saranac Lake, N.Y. Betty had a particular love of retail and after her marriage to Cal, was employed at Hovey's Ski Shop and Shehadi's before her employment at the Bank of Lake Placid. Betty was a Girl Scout leader and happily participated in the Scoutoramas held at The Club. Raised a Catholic, Betty joined her husband in embracing St. Eustace Episcopal Church in the 1970's, remaining members for the rest of their lives. After retirement Betty worked at clothing and shoes stores on the Main Street as well as volunteering at St. Eustace's Helping Hands Thrift Shop. Betty devoted herself to her husband and children and was an example of strength, courage, joy, and love for all her family. She especially loved her grandchildren and was a source of mischief and fun for them all. Her sense of humor and love of going almost anywhere were one of her many strengths. Betty is preceded in death by her husband of fifty five years Calvin, her parents, as well as her brother William Hennessey and sister Rita Sheffield. A niece and nephews also predeceased her. Betty is survived by her son Lynn Wilson of Lake Placid, his children Krista (Christopher) Hennen of Washingtonville, N.Y. and Amanda Wilson of Clayton, N.Y., and her daughter Marilyn (favorite son in law Louis) of Lockport, NY and their children Matthew Mussari and Samantha Mussari (Paul Curtis) also of Lockport. Betty was truly a Great Grandmother to Ava Hennen, Ella and Brennan Curtis, Callynn Schleher, and newborn Declan Mussari. Betty is also survived by nieces and nephews Billy Sheffield, Lorraine VonDell, and Larry Straight of Lake Placid, and Amalia (Mimi) Tenorino of Caracas Venezuela, sister in law Alice (Min) Wilson of Lake Placid, as well as grand nieces and nephews. Betty's family wishes to extend our thanks to the staff of Elderwood at Uihlein for their care and concern as well as the Sisters of Mercy. Until we meet again, may He hold her in the hollow of His hand. A funeral service will be held at a later date to be announced followed by burial in North Elba Cemetery. The M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements. Relatives and friends are invited to share a memory or leave condolences at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com . .
