Patricia Lincoln Higgins Lake Placid - Patricia (Patti) Higgins, 59, of Lake Placid, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. She was born October 8, 1953, in Lake Placid, the daughter of Raymond and Lera (Smith) Lincoln. She married Louis Higgins on November 3, 1996 in Millbrook, New York. Patti graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1972 and later as a member of the nursing program at North Country Community College. She had an immense love for animals, whether it was extending her yard as a home to the countless wildlife that beautified their property or offering time at the local humane society. Patti greatly enjoyed spending time gardening, cooking and traveling. She had many fond memories of the years she spent at Whiteface Mountain's Kids Kampus teaching skiing to the young children. Her striking landscapes in watercolor, ink and oils will be appreciated for years by those cherishing her memory. She is survived by her husband Louis Higgins of Lake Placid; step-daughter Jennifer Higgins of New York City; her mother Lera Lincoln of Lake Placid; six sisters and two brothers; Donna Loud of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Thomas Lincoln of Ray Brook; Sandra Forster and her husband Robert of Lake Placid; Kathy Lincoln and her companion Bill Shurter of Lake Placid; Diane Kennedy and her husband David of Syracuse; Mary Riley and her husband Larry of Saranac Lake; Theresa Heinrich and her husband Tom of Colchester, Vermont; Jay Lincoln and his companion Carol Letky of Plattsburgh. Patti is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom have treasured the traditional family Christmas Eve at "Aunt Patti's". The spirit of the season was always nurtured by a white Christmas and a crackling fire at "Little Alps", where the holiday was filled with love, laughter, and many stories of earlier years. Patti leaves behind many great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father and one brother in-law George W. Loud. There will be no calling hours. A memorial gathering will be held by the family for relatives and friends wishing to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tri-Lake Humane Society, PO Box 1111, Saranac Lake, NY 12983 or the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, PO Box 107, Lake Placid, NY 12983. Family and friends are invited to "light a candle" and leave a memory and prayer for the family to cherish at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com.
