The Baker Family:
we were so sorry to read of your mother's death. Please accept our most sincere sympathy.
i was happy to see and visit with her at Uihlein's. We had some good chats of the square dance days and of friends we both knew. She was always so pleasant.and we know you will all miss her, so very much. May she rest in peace.

Sister Dorothy Baker has a very special place in my heart. I love her so much. She has taught me many things and has been an amazing example to me. She is very Christ like. In the summer of 1999, I was 17 years old, I came from Utah for a summer training camp at the Olympic Training Center with my Luge Team. I wanted to stay the rest of the summer to get some good training in. My coach said there was no room in the training center, but I could train with them if I could if I found a place to stay. I made much effort and many phone calls for places to stay, nothing seemed to work out. After doing all I could do, I prayed to my Heavenly Father telling him my thoughts and feelings, I had an impression from the Holy Ghost to go to church. My first thought was, “How is that going to help me?”, but I followed my inspiration and went to church and talked the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When I talked to Sister Baker, she didn’t hesitate to offer for me to stay with her. She said she had to check with the Assisted living home, where she was at to make sure it was okay. Sister Baker told me that her husband Bernie’s health had declined and she had a hard time taking care of him and he had gone into a home just that week. (I think it was Elderwood?) I was privileged to live with her for 3 weeks. It was amazing to stay with her! She was very kind and loving. When I would go home to her place after my training each day, it felt like my home. We talked often about being each other’s answers to our prayers. Her example and Testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ of latter day saints has strengthened my testimony and has made me a better person. I have cherished that summer ever since and talk about it often.
