Rollie, I can't believe that you are gone, I enjoyed our visits and the stories you'd tell me. I thank you for your service to LP Volunteer Ambulance Service and to Life Flight. You'll be missed dearly....
"I give you this one thought to keep-
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am still with you - in each new dawn."

Thinking about my very good friend, Tobi, and family and wishing you all peace and comfort in the memory of a wonderful "Papa" who loved and supported his family ("extended," too!) and his community. It was an honor and a pleasure to know him.

I have many great memories of working with Rollie on the ambulance and life flight. He was a kind general soul. Always with a funny story and kind words. I am thankful I got to know him.

I knew Rollie for way to many years to remember. We were the weekend ambulance crew at the LPVAS along with Hoover Barney and Jane Livermore for a number of years and those long distance ambulance rides and stops at Dunkin Donuts at 3am were something we’d reminisce about often. In more recent years Rollie was always dropping off syrup on his drivebys on his way to his caretaking jobs. Rollie, you served this community with honor and dedication and helped so many residents and visitors to our town. You will always be remembered and dearly missed.

We have known Roland since our son, Mike, married Tobi. He was such an interesting person to talk with because of his life's experiences. We all know that he loved to talk. Two thing that I remember fondly were the fact that he always took his own syrup with him to breakfast when he ate out. The other thing was that he told me he had a problem with rodents eating his syrup line. I asked how he mixed the problem and he with lead. I asked how he did it with lead. he said, "I shot them.

Rolle often flew with me on Life Flight. We used to tell the patients they were in good hands as between us ( along with Chuck Pandolph ) we had over 180 years of experience. If we were still doing it today we would be over 200 years of experience.
Rolle, you will be missed.
