Obituary of Vera Bessie Marrs

Vera Bessie Marrs, age 91, of Lake Placid died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid, NY. Mrs. Marrs was born March 18, 1921 in Lake Placid, NY. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and the late Mazie (Patterson) Barney. She was the wife of Frank Marrs. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Marrs Sept. 20, 1996. Mrs. Marrs was a former member of the Lake Placid American Legion Woman's Auxillary and the VFW. She loved caring for children and babysat for many families in the Lake Placid area. She also enjoyed reading, especially Danielle Steel books, listening to classic country music, and her cats. She is survived by one brother, Wayne Barney and his wife Victoria of Lake Placid, NY; one step-son, Philip Marrs and his wife Nancy of Upper Jay, NY; one granddaughter, Jennifer Pulsifer and her husband John of Upper Jay, NY and two great grandchildren, Marisa and John III. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, January 25 from 5 PM to 8 PM at M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home, 2310 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, NY. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 26 at 10:00 AM at the Adirondack Community Church, 2583 Main Street, Lake Placid, NY with Rev. John Martin and Rev. Ingrid Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in North Elba Cemetery, Lake Placid.
