Mae Julia Palumbo (May 1, 1925- January 21, 2020) Mae Julia Palumbo passed into the hands of the Lord on January 21, 2020 at the age of 94. At the time of her passing, Mae was in the very caring hands of the people at Elderwood. Mae was born May 1, 1925 in Plattsburgh. She is the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Lesperance) Cartier. On June 4, 1944 she married Alfred Palumbo and they spent the early years of their marriage in Schenectady surrounded by their families. Most of their free time was spent travelling to Lake Placid to build their home on McKinley Street on the Palumbo family property. Together they raised a daughter Carol Elizabeth Palumbo and a son David Allen Palumbo. The family moved into their home on McKinley Street in the early 1960's. Mae and Al spent their years together with their vegetable gardens and flowers, camping during the summer with their many friends, and decorating their home at Christmas. Their summers were filled with visits from family members from both the Cartier and Palumbo sides of the family. Mae was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Julia Cartier, her siblings Thomas Cartier and Jane Cartier, her husband Alfred Palumbo and her daughter Carol E. (Palumbo) LaPierre. Mae is survived by: her son, David (Camilla) Palumbo of Lincoln City, Oregon; her son in law, Ronald J. LaPierre of Cadyville; two grandsons, Joseph J. LaPierre of Lake Placid and James A. LaPierre of Plattsburgh; one great grandson, Jacob C. LaPierre of Plattsburgh; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
