Mildred Williams Obituary Mildred "Millie" Norrie Williams was born October 9, 1926 in Barre, Vermont, the daughter of George and Jessie (Small) Norrie. She attended schools in Barre, was graduated Valedictorian of her 1944 class at Spaulding High School, and received her Bachelor of Science in 1948 from the University of Vermont, where she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She was employed the Sisters of Mercy at Uihlein Mercy Center as Administrative Assistant to the Director (now Elderwood at Uihlein) from 1966 until her retirement at the age of 80 in 1997. She began working for the Sisters of Mercy at Uihlein prior the facility being constructed. She was fond of saying that she came to Uihlein when it was just a hole in the ground. Millie was a member of the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid, NY. She married Gordon Williams at the Adirondack Community Church on January 2, 1948. She is predeceased by her husband (2005) and son, Michael (2014), and her sisters Gladys (California) and Winona (Vermont). She is survived by her three daughters, Gladys "Susie" Barney and husband, Jon, of Lake Placid; Patti Osgood and her husband, Scott, of Henniker, NH; and Karen Pagano of Pleasant Valley, NY. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Melissa Sorenson, Theresa Klein, Jonathan Barney, Heather Williams, Norrie and Jessie Osgood, and Christine and Megan Pagano as well as three great-grandchildren, Lauren McKay, Samantha Klein, Griffin Barney, and one great-great child. There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 3, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Adirondack Community Church, Main Street, Lake Placid, NY. Rev. Derek Hanson will officiate. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery, Old Military Rd, Lake Placid NY. The Covid-19 regulations are enforced to include hand sanitizing upon entry of church, masks, and social distancing.
