Maria M. Surprenant, 85, of Champlain, NY passed away Friday August 7, 2020.
Maria was born May 1, 1935 to the late Albert and Rose (Ducatte) Lafontaine. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Champlain and worked at Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories in Rouses Point for 27 years. She married the love of her life, Germain Surprenant, on August 21, 1954 at St. Mary’s Church. She was a great knitter, and enjoyed making infant outfits and sweaters for friends and family.
Including her husband, Maria is survived by her brother Maurice (Linda) Lafountain of Plattsburgh, brother-in-law Norman Rock of Morrisonville, sister-in-law Pauline from Canada, nieces and nephews from Canada: Danny (Carol) Rock, Deborah (Tom) Giuliano, Jane Empie, Lisa (Alan) Jodoin, and Brian (Christine) Lafountain.
Maria is predeceased by her parents, her sister Rita Rock, along with several brother and sister-in-laws.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Champlain at 11:00 AM on Thursday August 13, 2020. Burial will immediately follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Church Street.
