Obituary of Nancy Ann Smith

On November 2, 2020 Nancy Ann Smith of Johnson Avenue in Lake Placid, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 80. She was born August 29,1940 the second daughter of the late Francis and Isabel (Barry) Fisk. Nancy attended Lake Placid High School, class of 1955 and Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in Schenectady, NY. graduating in October of 1962 as a Registered Nurse. Nancy met and married Joseph Smith on September 19,1964 and went to work for the Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid/Saranac Lake until her retirement in 2005. Joe and Nancy raised their family of four in Lake Placid where she enjoyed camping and was involved with the Girls Scouts of America. She also dragged her two boys to every freezing hockey rink in the North Country. In retirement, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and planting her flowers every Spring. Nancy is survived by her children: Lorraine Smith Machado and her husband, Robert Machado, Jr of Napa, CA; his son Stephen John Smith and his wife Rita Ladoceaur of Palm Coast, FL; Joseph Harold Smith II and his spouse April (Maddox) Smith and Karyn Ann Smith Szemborski and her husband, Scott Szemborski of Franklin, WI. She is also survived by her brothers Frances Fisk of Lake Placid, William Fisk of Elizabethtown, NY and Robert Fisk of Pocatello, ID. Nancy has four grandchildren: Rebecca Smith Brandt and her husband Chris Brandt of Dover NH, Robert Machado III, Keiran and Kaden Smith. One great granddaughter Ivelle Willow Brandt and a great grandson on the way. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen Smith of Keene, NY, and her brother Charles Fisk of Gabriels, NY. Due to travel restrictions there will be a private family burial at St. Agnes Cemetery in Lake Placid and a public memorial service at a later date. The M. B.
