Obituary of Robert Joseph Gallo

Robert Joseph Gallo, age 66, of Jersey Drive, Lake Placid, New York died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York following a short illness. He was born February 22, 1946 in Saranac Lake, NY the son of Charles D. and Salina C. (Muncil) Gallo. Bob graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1966. He was employed by New York State Department of Transportation from October 1967 until his retirement in April 2001as Highway Maintenance Supervisor. He married Linda M. Morency on July 20, 1974 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Lake Placid, New York. Bob treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren who were the apples of his eye. His hobbies and interests were gun collecting, gunsmithing, and working around his camp. He loved the Civil War Era and enjoyed traveling to the Gettysburg area every year. He is survived by his wife Linda; two sons, David Gallo and his wife Emily of Bloomingdale, New York and Robert Gallo and his fianc Rebecca Minor of Bargaintown, New Jersey; His grandchildren, Aaron and Brendon Gallo of Bloomingdale, New York and Justin, Mason and Sophia Gallo and Peyton Minor of Bargaintown, New Jersey; A brother, Charles Gallo and his wife Elizabeth of Lake Placid, New York; A Sister, Lorraine Tyler and her husband Jerry of Raleigh, North Carolina; Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Nancy and Timothy Curran of St. Petersburg, Florida; Aunts, Helen Muncil of Saranac Lake, New York and Johanna Brewster of Lake placid, New York; Nieces and nephews, Tara Lounsberry and Chad Tyler of Raleigh, North Carolina, Michael Curran of Jacksonville, Florida and Jamie Curran of Portland, Oregon and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law George and Reiko Morency; a son, Thomas Gallo and a brother, Michael Phillips. Calling hours will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 from 2PM to 4 PM and 7PM to 9 PM at M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, New York. A Bible Vigil will be held at 8:45 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, NY with Father John Yonkovig officiating. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery.
