Obituary of Phyllis Wright

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Phyllis Wright, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully at her home on December 21 at the age of 85. She grew up in Witherbee, NY, back when it was a “booming little town”, where she was affectionately known as "Bosco" by her Uncle Joe. She had a long and enjoyable career at Clinton Community College, first getting her Associates Degree as a non-traditional student, and then as a longtime employee for over 25 years. She was proud of the college, and often enjoyed talking about her days there. Phyllis also enjoyed gardening, reading, dining out, cuddling with her cats Zoey and Saschi, playing card games on the computer that her son Sean built especially for her, and traveling with family and friends. She loved her times in Myrtle Beach on family trips, and in later years, for the sun and fun with our father. In addition, she also looked forward to, and enjoyed, weekly Sunday phone calls (and in earlier days, weekly Sunday visits) from one of her oldest and dearest friends, who is really more like a family member, "Aunt Maggie" to us. We still ask her about her famous Christmas Bourbon Ball cookies that we all (especially our Dad!) loved so much. Phyllis and our Dad also loved visiting daughter Michelle and son-in-law Tom at their various homes around the country, including a 3 week family trip to Seattle in 1985 where Michelle and Tom were wonderful tour guides and gave them many fond memories to look back on. And she really loved the trip to Hawaii that her daughter Phyllis and son-in-law Todd took them on for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. (With the possible exception of "The Banana Incident”) Later, she even became a bit of an adventurer as she embarked on a cruise with her friends, to sail around The Panama Canal! (Dad would have been impressed!) She was pre-deceased by her parents (our awesome grandparents) Thomas and Mary, and by her husband (who was also, quite possibly, the worlds most perfect Dad) Frederick Wright to whom she was married for an impressive 53 years, and who she continued to love deeply for the rest of her life. She leaves behind three children: Daughter Michelle (Tom) Pillsworth and their 3 children, Thomas, Brian and Olivia. Daughter Phyllis (Todd) Johnson and their 2 children Jessica and Joshua, along with 4 great-grandchildren, Keagan, Michael, Matthew and Miles. And last, but certainly not least, son Sean Wright, (who has no children, but is idolized by his cat, Jazz, and plays a mean guitar) Phyllis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but never, EVER forgotten.
