Obituary of Eileen M. Ashline

Please share a memory of Eileen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eileen M. (Hogan) Ashline, age 91, of Lake Street, Rouses Point, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2021 at CVPH Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Eileen was born on July 24, 1929, in Mackayville (St. Hubert), Quebec, the daughter of Richard and Ann (Breen) Hogan. She married Harold D. “Bud” Ashline, Jr. at St. Jean Eudes Church in Mackayville, Quebec, on June 25, 1955. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point. Eileen loved knitting and crocheting. When her children and grandchildren were small, she made them countless pairs of mittens, hats, and scarves. She also made numerous afghans, and these can be seen throughout all of our homes. In later years, she started knitting baby hats for newborns and donated over 2,500 to the maternity ward at CVPH. She also crocheted many lap robes and donated them to nursing homes, the VA hospital, and homes for the disabled. This labor of love brought her much pride and joy. Survivors include her three sons, John Ashline and his wife Phyllis of Lancaster, PA, Keith Ashline and his wife Fran of Rouses Point, and Harold D. “Hap” Ashline, III of Rouses Point; one daughter, Kathy Goyette and her husband Mark of Rouses Point; two granddaughters, Heather Ashline of Lancaster, PA, Ashley Goyette of Lansdale, PA; one grandson, David Ashline and his fiancée Bizzy Hanniford of Pittsburgh, PA; one sister, Marion Stevenson of Irving, TX, and one sister-in-law, Edna Ashline of Annapolis, MD. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by those who loved her. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Buddy, and her two brothers, Richard “Uncle Richie” Hogan and John Hogan. Her brother John was killed in action in World War II, and she thought of him and missed him every day since. Her brother, Richie, was considered “the life of the party” and brought countless hours of fun and laughter to her life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Church followed by burial at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Coopersville. The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff on R5 Medical Surgical Unit at CVPH for their kind, compassionate care of our beloved mother and grandmother in her final days. Donations in her memory may be made to the Rouses Point Rescue Squad. Arrangements are in the care of M. B. Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point. “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” – Winnie the Pooh
