Obituary of Elizabeth Slessor

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth (Liz) Slessor passed away in Plattsburgh, New York on July 31, 2021 following a brief illness. She was the cherished wife and long-time companion of Alexander de Greef of Montréal and Rouses Point. Liz will be remembered by her friends and family as not only a kind and sympathetic listener, but also an avid debater on many world topics. For relaxation Liz read police, espionage and court-drama fiction. She hated to miss a “Jeopardy” episode. Liz loved travel and the outdoors, particularly being on the water of Lake Champlain sailing with Alex. Over the years, she and Alex had pairs of Siamese as their companion animals. Liz gave generously to animal shelters and wildlife protection organisations. Her proudest achievement was her almost four-decades career with a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer, where she rose from lab technician to production planning and then to managing the introduction of highly-specialised IT in the Canadian facilities. Liz is survived by her husband and by her brother, James Slessor and his family of Almonte and Ottawa, Ontario. A visitation is arranged at M. B. Clark Funeral Home in Rouses Point at a date to be announced, and a memorial service and interment will occur in Montréal when the Canada/USA border situation is normalized. Donations in her memory are suggested to the Canadian Wildlife Fund or the Montréal SPCA.
