Marjorie "Sis" Darrah Stevens, 89, of Buttonwood Way, Lake Placid, NY went to be home with her Lord, surrounded by her family, Thursday, August 8, 2021, at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid. She was born in Lake Placid, NY February 11, 1932 the daughter of Harold "Pete" and Marjorie (Kennedy) Darrah. Marjorie was the first baby born during the 1932 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, NY. She married Bernard A. Stevens of Saranac Lake, Ny July 7, 1951, they made their home in Lake Placid. Marge, or "Sis" as she was known by her close friends, worked many places around the Lake Placid area, she worked in the Lake Placid Club laundry, various other motels, and provided cleaning services for Carter Lockwood and her favorite Dr., George Hart. Most recently Marge worked for North Country Home Services as Home Health Aide providing care around the North Country retiring in 1997. Marjorie was a founding member of New Hope Church on Station Street in Lake Placid and remained active pursuing her passion for the Lord. She was a Mighty Prayer Warrior, praying for the needs of those who needed prayer and praying for the community she loved so well. Marge shared the Lord with all she came in contact with. She was known as "Nanna" to all who loved her. She lived her daily life for the Lord. Marge leaves behind five daughters, Patti Stevens Begor of Lake Placid, Donna Stevens O'Reilly of Wilmington, Jenna Ann Stevens and Michael Smith of Harrington Delaware, Susan Stevens Holzer of Wilmington, Nancy Stevens Miner of Lake Placid and one son, Bernard H. Stevens and his wife Sharon of Lake Placid. The Lord blessed her with 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Wilda M Kennedy of Walla Walla Washington, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard A., one grandson, William "Bill" Stevens; Four brothers, Ralph Darrah, William "Bill" Darrah, Sr., Frank Kennedy, and Russell Darrah, as well as many close friends. Calling hours will be Sunday, August 8 from 4 PM to 7 PM at M. B. Clark, Inc., 2310 Saranac Ave., Lake Placid, NY. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 9th at New Hope Church, Station Street, Lake Placid, NY. Apostle Richard Ducatte, Pastor Mike Ducatte and Pastor Andrew Borden will officiate. Burial will follow at North Elba Cemetery, Old Military Rd., Lake Placid, NY.»(Do not delete this line.
