Obituary of Kay Ann Fadden

Please share a memory of Kay to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kay Ann Fadden, 87, passed away January 23, 2022 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid after a short illness. Kay was born June 5, 1934, an only child of Milton and Bertha McCasland Iby. She is survived by her husband Richard (Dick) and her son Jody (Margaret), daughter Vicky Heussi (Jonathan), her grandsons Christopher (Nikita), Jeremy (Alissa) and Colin (Katie) and 3 great grandchildren, Torin, Teagan and Jonah. Her family was the most important thing to her. The Matriarch of the family, she planned all birthdays, holidays and special events. One of her biggest pleasures was spending time with her grandchildren. When they were young, she was the babysitter, cheerleader for sporting events and short order cook for 3 growing boys. Kay loved her pets, and the house always had at least one dog in residence. She raised Daschunds and Schnauzers and had a dog grooming business. In later years she had Yorkies that she and Dick spoiled. She also helped her father with his horses, going to Saratoga and the county fairs to the races. Kay was an excellent cook, and there never was a shortage of fresh canned tomatoes and pickles in her pantry waiting to be shared with family and friends. She always baked during the holidays and her coffee cakes and other sweets were a treat shared with many. She went to business school and worked at the telephone company. She always was busy helping Dick with whatever project he was tackling. They worked side by side for over 70 years. When Dick started Adirondack Plumbing, Kay did the billing, and kept track of the office work. They bought Woods Motel on Sentinel Road and completely renovated the old strip motel into the Four Seasons. She and Dick also ran the Sentinel Sports shop and video rental at the motel. In their spare time made wooden crafts and spent weekends at craft shows. Kay and Dick loved to fish, and you could often find them in a canoe on the Cascade Lakes, or in their boat on Lake Placid. They enjoyed getting in the car and going for a ride to visit attractions in the Adirondacks and just getting out together. When they were younger, they would head off on their four wheelers on the many trails in the area with a picnic lunch, and on their snowmobile in the winter. There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb, 22nd at 10:00 AM at St. Agnes Church in Lake Placid, NY. Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. The M. B. Clark, inc. Funeral Hone in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service in her memory.
