Obituary of Thomas Freeland Smith

Thomas Smith was born and raised in Lake Placid, NY where he excelled in athletics and went on to teach at LPCS for 31 years. Many of you may have known him as your 8th or 12th grade teacher, Pastor Tom, a stone mason, a man of strong faith, and a great friend to many. Tom was also a loving husband to his wife Lisa for over 40 years, and a loving father and Papa Bear to his 3 children Alese, Ian and Caleb. He had the privilege of marrying all 3 to Cody, Molly and Eleri. He loved everyone, especially when it came to his family, being Papa Tom, and 'Tommie' to his grandchildren Liam and Rainey, and he is survived by his sisters Marsha Sullivan and Lorrie Donaldson. In 2020 he and Lisa moved to Kingsport TN where they have enjoyed their little bungalow and the wonderful community that God blessed them with. We will never forget Tom's legacy. We have constant reminders of the man he was through his students, the communities he served, his hard work ethic and his legacy left in stone that will last a lifetime. Although taken away too soon, Heaven greeted him for God's greater plan on November 16th, 2022. It's never goodbye, it's we will see you later. We were so blessed to have you in our lives. There was a service to honor his life and legacy in Kingsport on December 21st at 6:30PM at Grace Fellowship Church, Kingsport TN. A second service will be held June 10, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Lake Placid High School in the auditorium. The M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY will assist in arranging local services.
