Obituary of Patricia Mae Brewster
Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Mae Brewster of Lake Placid, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28th surrounded by family at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Patsy was born on June 29, 1936 in Saranac Lake, New York to Clarence and Beatrice (née Cassavaugh) Hinckley of Lake Placid. After graduating from Lake Placid High School in 1955, she spent the early years of her professional life as a nurse caring for patients at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. Most people in town know her best from her 20+ years working at Robo. During her time at Robo, she was well known to open early, giving everyone their "daily dose of harassment" served with a side of hot coffee. You always knew where you stood with Patsy, and you also knew you could count on her to be among the first to be there for anyone at any time, no questions asked.
For fun, Patsy enjoyed "running the roads" at all hours of the day and night, visiting her numerous friends and family members around town, with daily stops at McDonald's for coffee. She also loved going to every local yard sale, and playing Bingo, where she was known to play more cards than could fit on the table.
Patsy is survived by her children: daughter, Vicky (Greg) Graham, and son, Steve Brewster, both of Lake Placid. Her grandchildren: Dacia (Jeff) Ostlund, Brianne (Joseph) Lastra, Sierra Brewster, Chelsea Graham, Cortlynn (Jason) Trotman, and Jenna Lester. Her great-grandchildren: Gianna, Phoenix, Jace, Maya, Jack, Thea, Nico, and Oliver. She is also survived by her sister, Darlene "Poo Poo" Stanton of Lake Placid, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Patsy is predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Beatrice Hinckley, her husband, Eugene Brewster, her daughter, Joanne Brewster, son Eugene "Joe" Brewster, Jr., and her sisters, Janice Corrow, Shirley Peck, Susan and Connie Hinckley. At Patsy's request, there are no calling hours or services. According to her, "If you don't come see me when I'm alive, you don't need to come see me when I am dead." If you would like to honor her, please share a fun story or memory about her with her family members if you see them out and about. This will keep her fiery spirit alive in this town she loved so much.
Patsy's family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nursing staff at Adirondack Health for treating her with the compassion, love, and dignity she deserved in her final days. The M. B. Clark, Inc., Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements.
