Obituary of Gilbert Martin Lyon

Gilbert M. "Gibby" Lyon, age 72, of Lake Placid died unexpectedly Friday, May 10, 2013 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY. Gibby was born December 16, 1940 in Saranac Lake, NY. He was the son of Gilbert C. and Ruth E. (Kent) Lyon. He married Maxine "Pinky" Borden on June 18, 1960 in Lake Placid, NY. He was predeceased by the "Love of his Life, Pinky" June 10, 2010. He had worked over 40 years for Grand Union Co. as Manager in the Produce Dept. and after his retirement he worked for Tops Grocery Store. Gibby was a true Mets fan, sticking by his team in the bad times and in good times. He cherished the time spent with his wife and family. He was an avid golfer, playing over 80 games in the 2012 golf season. He was a member of Craig Wood Golf and Country Club and played various courses throughout the North Country. He is survived by two sons, Maxime "Max" Lyon and his wife Cheri of Lake Placid, NY and Alexis "Lex" Lyon and his wife Lisa of Saranac Lake, NY; one daughter, Kelly Miner and her husband Jim of Lake Placid, NY; two sisters, Juline "Julie" Daley of Frankfort, NY and Betty Jacques and her husband Theodore of Ticonderoga, NY. He is also survived by six grandchildren , Keith Lyon and his wife Megan of Lake Placid, NY, James M. Miner and his wife Angie of Lithonia, GA, Justin and Jeremy Miner of Lake Luzerne, NY, Nataya Plummer and her husband Kristopher of Orlando, FL, and Paige Lyon of Saranac Lake, NY, three great-grandchildren, Kaden Alexander and Mason Daniel Lyon and Zel Plummer. He was predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Ruth and one sister, Leah St. Louis. There are no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. The M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements. The Family suggests memorial donations for Gilbert M. Lyon de made to the Sarcoidosis Research, 122 So. Michigan Ave., Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60603 in memory of his loving wife Pinky.
