Blue Note Restaurant: The place where many social conversations took place. Larry would come in generally by himself and others would join his table. Stories would prevail about anything from the way it "use to be" to the very issue or topic at hand.
We spoke about the days of the Restaurant often and with fondness. Larry spoke of my mother as an amiable hard working woman. She made him feel comfortable anytime he came in. I remember when my family drove my mom, Betty-Jean, from the funeral home to St Anns church in November of 2020; it was cold, windy and snowing. As the funeral procession passed by, Larry stood silently by acknowledging her passing.
I had taken a Local History Class in College years ago and the topic I was writing my paper on was the history of transportation by trains. Larry was extremely helpful with his knowledge on this topic. The credit of an A on that paper belongs to him.
He held on to many stories in his limitless mind , some of which recorded in his book "Doubling Over."
I was able to spend some time with Larry at his train station. I remember stopping in on a really cold winter day. he had his old Pot belly stove roaring inside. We. sat in the historical station office. again reminiscing about. train transportation and many Mooers community members during that time relying on. trains as their way of living. The trains were instrumental in the development and survival of the community.
As Town Historian, I cannot say enough about the help Larry gave too many people who sought out their Family History and genealogy. We would study old pictures citizens brought in for days to verify descriptions and date them appropriately.
Larry will be missed in so many ways especially as a pillar of knowledge to our community.
we will all truly miss Larry, Vicki Davison-Brassard.

I am younger than Larry but grew up in Mooers as well. My parents Cecile and Donald LaPierre (Larry's math and science teacher) told me all about the renovation of the Railroad depot site and the caboose that Larry placed there to honor the depot when the train use to pass in Mooers. It brought up memories for me when I would ride my bike to the tracks to see the train pass on the Hemmingford road then swing by the depot to see what passengers got off. My aunt would travel up from Troy, NY on the train and my mom would pick her up there. When I no longer lived in the area I visited Mooers and saw the amazing job that Larry did to the area where the depot was located. Larry was an honorable, respected, and dedicated resident of Mooers, NY. Quiet personality but a very nice man. May he rest in peace and be reunited with love ones and friends in heaven.

Larry, I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering what you were up to. Whether you were at your caboose or the station. I miss you at work and the stories you would tell us. Rest in peace up there in Railroad Heaven.

I have only known Larry since 2005, when I joined the Rutland Railroad Historical Society, but he immediately struck me as a quiet man, but not lacking in humor, and traditional in many ways with his interest in history, respecting individuals, and clearly enjoying life and giving back to his community of friends. It is a great sorrow to learn of his passing.

Larry has been an important part of my North Country railroad experience for several decades. My D&H and O&LC railroad video documentaries always involved his on-camera presence and wonderful collection. I'll always cherish my visits to Mooers Junction station, followed by treating him to lunch at a family restaurant on Rt. 11. I always kidded him about being "a cheap date" as he routinely went for the $5 hot dog special despite my enthusiastic arm-flinging and declaration "the skies the limit! Go for anything on the menu. You are a Tell-Tale Productions V.I.P.!" RIP, Larry, I suspect your telegraphy buddies have already greeted you in railroad heaven.
