Obituary of Susan M. Duquette

Susan M. (O’Neill) Duquette, 56, of Rouses Point, New York, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont on June 15, 2023. Susan attended Northeastern Clinton Central School and graduated in 1985. She was a passionate figure skater and instructor at Rouses Point Civic Center for more than a decade. Susan worked at Wyeth/Ayerst. She was also a Sunday school teacher and active member of the Altar Guild at Christ and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Champlain, New York, along with her family. Susan is survived by the love of her life, Joe Duquette, husband of 35 years and father of their son, Ryan Duquette. Susan was a very proud and devoted mother to Ryan. Susan is also survived by her father, Bob O’Neill of Venice, Florida, her siblings Lee (Megan) Smith of Westport, Connecticut, Beverly Gover of South Burlington, Vermont, Elizabeth (Beth and Andre’) LaFountain of Venice, Florida, nieces and nephews Christopher, Caroline, Claire, and Sophie Smith, Michael Gover, and Brandon and Cole LaFountain, Uncle John and Aunt Jean Snow, and extended family. Susan was predeceased by her mother, Sue O’Neill, father-in-law Joseph O. Duquette, Aunt Bev, Uncle Chiefo, and cousin Bobby Wilkins, Uncle Bud and Aunt Helen Snow, and cousins Jari Snow Thwaits and Kim Snow. Susan’s many interests included crafting, book reading, gardening, painting, interior and outdoor holiday decorating, and following the work and magic of “The Shabby Tree Lady,” a Facebook crafter and artist. Everyone enjoyed Susan’s artistic and craft work. Susan most enjoyed spending lots of time with Joe, Ryan, and the family’s cocker spaniel, Snowy. She will be dearly missed by all who know her. Public calling hours will be in Rouses Point at M. B. Clark Funeral Home, 148 Lake Street, on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Susan’s funeral will be at Christ & St. John’s Episcopal Church at 18 Butternut Street in Champlain on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 1:00 pm; burial will be in Rouses Point at St. Patrick’s Cemetery immediately following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan’s honor to Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child.
