George Peter Galanis, fell asleep in the Lord on October 26, 2023 in Rouses Point, New York.

Beloved husband of the late Angeliki Galanis. Loving father of Peter (Ann) Galanis and Angeline Julie (Ryan) Trost. Proud Papou of Mary Margaret, George, Aristoteli, George, and the late Stella Rose. Dear brother of Niko (Litsa) Galanis, Sia (Ed) Toliopoulos, and the late Stella (the late Nick) Antonoglu. Cherished son of the late Panagioti and Angeliki Galanis. Dear uncle, cousin, and friend of many who will miss him.

George was a devoted family man, who immigrated to the United States (via Canada) in the 1960’s from Kallithea Greece.  He left his homeland in search of a better life.  Thirty years later he returned to live there in retirement.  He had a passion for nurturing his olive trees.  Every fall he would talk about how he looked forward to the harvest.

He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, demonstrating the importance of hard work, resilience and dedication.

Friends and family will meet for visitation Thursday November 2 from 9:30 AM until time of service 10:30 AM at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7373 N Caldwell Avenue, Niles, IL.   Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in George’s name ​to St. Haralambos would be appreciated.
