My father was Joyce’s brother. I remember being in awe for one of the first times when on a trip to the Florida Keys. My father, Tom, and I went to the keys to scuba dive which is just what we were doing when I noticed a snorkeler desperately trying to get to us. The person tried several times to swim swim swim down to us but just couldn’t quite make it. It wasn’t until we resurfaced that we found out the crazy diving snorkeler was Aunt Joyce. Somehow she had found her brother and me at the bottom of the ocean. I will never know how but I do know that Aunt Joyce was a wonderful sister to her brother.

I am so very sorry to hear this. Joyce was so good to me when I was Hal’s teacher at Saint Agnes back in the 1980’s. She lived an incredible life. Always generous and loving. I remember her fondly.

Joyce was my 1st cousin 1 time removed. She was a kind, friendly person that was a strong Catholic Christian. She was blessed to live a long, happy, life of luxury. Sadly she spent decades as a widow. May God bless her soul and comfort all of the family and friends.

Joyce was a unique woman--one of a kind. When we started the Orange Sport Parachuting Center in May 1959, we staff members (all men) built a dormitory an old barn next to the airport. When Joyce showed up to jump, she insisted on staying in the dorm with us, in a little room of her own, braving our raucous behavior with her good humor. She was wonderfully kind, warm, and generous and can be seen playing the part of a first-time jumper in the academy award-winning short subject film," A Sport Is Born." All heart, that woman.
