Obituary of Marc-Andre Payette

Marc-Andre Payette, 37, of Rouses Point, NY, passed away on December 27, 2023 in his home in the presence of family who loved him unconditionally, and supported his special needs with passion. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patick’s Church on Saturday January 6, 2024 at 11:00am with Father Nicolas Revilla officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of M. B. Clark Funeral Home. Marc was born in St. Justin Children’s Hospital in Montreal, QC to Coleen Vance and Michel Payette of Montreal, QC on June 5, 1986. At the age of 14 Marc was placed in Residential Schooling. He was then moved to Agency-based housing where his needs could be best addressed by those professionally trained to do so. In 2010, at age 24, Marc moved home to be able to receive the kind of unconditional love and nurturing care that he needed. Marc overcame and endured many physical, emotional and mental obstacles in his short 37 years, but his life story defined the kind of love that brings good people together. It was with the support of these people that Marc was able to grow, live comfortably, and accomplish many things people did not realize he was capable of. Marc is survived by his mother and father, his sister Julie Payette (34) and brother Mathieu Payette (30), his maternal grandmother Louise Walsh Vance, and grandfather James Vance and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Andre and Marie-Paul Payette. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to those who loved and cared for Marc, those who encouraged him to be himself, and accepted him for who he was to include his family and friends, long-term caregiver Jovi Perez, and Dr. Stephen Heintz. Marc’s energy and laughter will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace in God’s tender and loving hands. Memorial donations may be made to North Country Center for Independence in support of long-term care ombudsman services.
