Richard Joseph Baker, 84, of Plattsburgh, NY (formerly Champlain, NY) passed away on February 10, 2024 in Plattsburgh, NY.

Richard was born in Burlington, VT to the late Lawrence Baker and Florence Eleanor Ero on January 23, 1940. He worked as a Machinist and was a supervisor at Plattsburgh Foundry and Machine Company (now known as Plattco). Later in life, he became co-owner of Clinton Machine Company in Chazy, NY. Richard enjoyed boating, fishing, wood-working, and lots of family time. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother, and a good friend to many.

Richard is survived by his wife Mary Lee Baker of Plattsburgh, NY, his children Maria Smith of Warren, MA, Julie Rines of Winchendon, MA, Mark Baker of Peru, NY, Marty Baker of Cheyenne, WY, and Rachelle Pratt of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by his siblings Maurice Baker of Milton, VT, Robert Baker of Chazy, NY, along with his grandchildren Dylan Smith, Amber Guay, Andrew Baker, Cody Rines, Jesse Owen, and Joshua Owen, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, Richard is predeceased by his sisters Rita Jarvis, Doris Bourgeois, and Ruth Fitzgerald, as well as his brother William Baker.

An hour of visitation will take place at St. Mary's Church in Champlain at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2024. The funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Fr. Nick Revilla.

A private burial will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family.
