Because of my job at the library, I was lucky to get to know Jeanne. She not only was a patron of the library but a dedicate member of the library board.
Jeanne was such a kind person with an amazing amount of energy. I remember being invited, with my friends, Carol Brown and Mary Bigelow, to dinner at Jeanne's beautiful home. Oh, my gosh , she made preparing and serving a delicious meal look so easy.
Carol and I still miss seeing Jeanne at the Sunday night concerts at the CMDA. Jeanne's seat was right next to ours in Row K. It was always nice to be able to chat with her before the concert. Jeanne made the world a better place.

I first arrived in Lake Placid in December 1972 having graduated St Lawrence University in May of that year.
I worked with both Jeanne and Paul at the Whiteface Ski School, then with Paul at the Bank of Lake Placid.
Jeanne and Paul immediately took me under their wing, as did PK and Susan, many fond memories of family dinners together at 66 Saranac Ave.
The Maders were my Lake Placid family and Jeanne was in every way a second mother to me.
Over so many years our friendship grew, even after moving away from Lake Placid to NJ and now CA
Have been coming back to the Adirondacks ever since and each time we would have a wonderful visit with Jeanne.
Always remembered birthdays and anniversaries, never missed.
Love you Jeanne, I have been blessed to have you in my life

When I first came to Lake Placid it was January 4th 1964 20 below zero. I had three small children and we had just moved and purchased th Wildwood Motel.
My husband went back to New York and his job and I was in Lake Placid without a car and three small children. About 2 weeks after we arrived two Ladies came to the front door and introduced themselves to be Jeanne Mader and Mary Wikof. They welcomed me to the Neighborhood and Lake Placid. It is a Moment that I will always remember because I had felt so lonely and lost. Jeanne and I stayed friends all this time even thought we lived in different places.Rest well my friend, you are missed.

The only thing I know of Jeanne, is that she gave the world P.K. Anyone who knew P.K. has to agree with what a fine person he was. He drove the school bus with us all and excelled with the children and cared deeply for his friends. It was often heard, 'there's only ONE P.K.
He was a blessing. As his Mom I am sure she had a great part in making him all that he was and for that I am thankful.
Knowing they are together is a comfort and I am sure was a joy filled reunion. Rest in peace Jeanne.
