Oh Bob Jones, you have been on the opposite corner of our street forever! You moved in when I was a teenager, and didn't get to know you then. I grew up and brought my husband here to live, and got to know you better. As the years went on we became friends and neighbors. You were quiet, but when someone needed something you were right there. Not only a caretaker for the neighbors, you were kind to our kids. The boys delivered your newspaper, ride their bikes in your driveway. When Maureen came along...she rode her bike and learned to roller blade in your driveway, too. And in the past six years you and Linda were very kind to Sean! You suggested that we take custodial job at church, which lasted eight years. And really like to try to clean out excess stuff!! You were a good and faithful servant, Bob, and are and will be missed for along time. Till we meet again old friend. Love fro.thr Skeels family.

Mike, Aerie, Ashley and I were the recipients of all of the wonders of having Bob, the Mayor of Johnson Avenue, as our dear neighbor for many, many years; he was more like family than family! Always a helping hand when needed, always good for a bit of town news to hear. He was just the kindest, loyalist, most helpful and sincere person in our lives. He also proudly watched over our house and dealt with any problems for most of the years in our retirement when we left for the west…..driving us to Albany, only to pick us up again in April. How very safe he made us feel all of those hundreds of miles away, knowing that “Bob was on it!” Words can never express how grateful we are for everything “Bob Jones”……especially when he brought us the most wonderful gift: Linda. We were all so very lucky to have such a good man in our lives.
With love and appreciation always, we wish him peace.

Dear Linda,
We will always remember Bob's leadership role for many years with the Tuesday Men's Breakfast at the Adirondack Community Church. Bob and Steve Doxzon would get up early and cook breakfast for the group at Erdman Hall. A number of regular attendees were handicapped members of the community from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. All who attended enjoyed a tasty breakfast and a time for devotion and discussion.
We will also remember Bob's involvement for many years with the LP Ecumenical Food Pantry. Bob often drove his truck to SL to pick up the regional food shipment and then drove it back to the LP Food Pantry at St. Agnes Catholic Church where it was unloaded. Each year for many years he would also handout frozen turkeys during the annual Thanksgiving Meal giveaway.
Bob will also be remembered for helping so many people in and around the Lake Placid area. He set a very high bar for helping others.
We miss Bob and will think of him often.
Sincerely,
Rich Terry and Peg Doran

Many years ago Bob and I both served together at Adirondack Community Church. I was the new church secretary and he was, as he put it, the church garbage man. I always knew that on Monday mornings I would have Bob pop into my office and greet me with a big smile and a hearty "good morning!" We always chatted about something for a bit but it was a great way to start the day and week. Bob was a diligent servant for our church, always concerned about keeping everything neat and tidy, checking for things that may need to be addressed by our Trustees, and making sure that people were taken care of.
He will be greatly missed by so many people and I will especially miss him calling me "Madam Secretary" and me calling him my "Chief Garbologist."

Bob Jones had the most "out-going" personality! He always had the quick wit of an answer and eager to do whatever needed to be done. He lived his Christian faith day in and day out - always concerned about those struggling. He was a very devout man - deeply rooted in the Lord Jesus. He would come forth for a blessing at Communion time with Linda and I felt like I should be asking for his blessing! He was an inspiration to me! Fr. John

Bob quietly ministered to many people. Delivering prescriptions for Kinney’s on the surface seems like job but when Bob delivered it was so much more.
Bob stopped a visited with the elderly who couldn’t get out. My Mercy Care friends would say, I had a nice visit with Bob when he brought my medicine.
Often I would meet Bob at the back door of the church as he was bringing in food from the grocery stores for the food pantry.
Bob was the quiet servant, a blessing not only to his family but to the community of Lake Placid.
God bless you Bob! You will be missed!

It was such an honor to get to know Bob. He was a regular presence at ACC the many years we went there, but it wasn't until Bob came to the men's breakfast that I got to know him. Bob always participated in the discussions with thoughtful comments. When our brother Phil Thayer started spending winters down south, Bob stepped in to help cook in the mornings. The time before everyone came and we were cooking was wonderful! We kidded each other with the banter and I learned a lot about Bob's life and his years here. I enjoyed hanging out with Bob.
Bob was such a gracious and generous person. It seems he volunteered to do almost anything. He was a great community server. I always enjoyed helping him out whenever the call came.
So many other memories of Bob. Bob, you are missed by so many people you touched. You left your footprints on my heart!

You asked me years ago if I knew that you were name guardian for Barbara, and myself as children, we were both told by our parents, and very comfortable in the fact that both you and Mary, named guardians. You both are very large parts of our life.
You took me on my first plane ride, first time to Canada. You took us on hikes in the fall to Marcy dam snowshoeing in the winter. In summer, swimming fishing and boating on lower Saranac. Your red kayak was a favorite by many of us.
Your Sunday buttermilk, pancake breakfast was the best, and you did it often for us. Thank you for being you, you will be missed.

Dear Linda, my fondest memories of Bob will be when he would pull up his big red truck in front of St. Agnes Church on Regional Pickup days and get out and open his arms wide to give me an enveloping hug. His hugs were wonderful, heartfelt things. You always felt fully loved in those hugs. I will miss his voice and his sense of humor; his willingness to help out whenever he could. It is hard to list all the ways he will be missed, but I know that on Regional Pickup days I will be expecting to see him and then missing him all the more.
Love to you always. We will get out and walk and talk more soon.

Adjectives when thinking of Mr. Robert Jones; Humorous; always willing to share his quick wit. Honest; both in life and towards others. Stubborn; following Bob's fractured hip still working out how to perfect his cane, following service day Sunday, Bob just had to go to the boiler room in the basement of the church, he refused accompaniment, so I had to follow at a distance as not to be yelled at. Generous; Bob would give you anything you asked and would be insulted if you didn't ask. Perceptive; Bob could find a cobweb at the other end of the church, or a broken branch that was not picked up. A memory of Bob from the 70's was when entering the offices of Raeoil, Bob was one of the first faces you came upon, I can clearly see him sitting behind his desk.
Bob, you will be missed and thank you for allowing me to drive the red mustang! To all that are grieving, "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened". Thank you for the smiles, brother.

I have known Bob for a long time. The first time I meant him he was running an errand for my brother, something he did frequently for him. Anything anybody asked him to do he was right there for them.. Bob was a gifted man when it came to helping others. Bob and Linda were a wonderful couple, when he was in Burlington Hospital the nurses said they never saw such a devoted couple to each other. You will certainly be missed! Rest in Peace Bob, your time has come.

My favorite things about Bob:
1. He was one of a kind - generous, gracious and goofy.
2. He knew when to leave a party. When he got up, everyone knew the party was over. In the future we will never know this because he's partying elsewhere with JoAnne.
3. He loved Linda with all his heart and wasn't afraid to show it.
4. He didn't mind the good-natured teasing about his one mistake in navigating the North Country around Point Au Roche trying to find our camp. He circled that road for a long time, finally called us for rescue, and then wouldn't stay in one place so we could find them easily. We have this great photo of Bob on the deck at camp once he arrived.
5. He gave great hugs.
I will miss Bob, and I will miss those great hugs.

Bob has always been 'one of those people' that one can never forget. The first time I met Bob, we were vacationing with our families at Bonnie View, in Wilmington, NY. He and my brother decided I should go horseback riding with them (I was 2 years old). In later years we spent time with Bob and Linda enjoying great conversations, laughter, and exchanging ideas while going out for a meal. Bob was 'one of kind', with a smile that would put anyone at ease, and an all-knowing twinkle in his eyes. He was the kind of friend everyone should have. I will miss Bob's presence among us, but I will always be grateful for those time we had together.
