Obituary of Robert S. Jones

Robert S. Jones. 87, of Lake Placid, NY passed away at his home on May 25, 2024. He was born in Albany, NY on August 24, 1936, the son of Leroy and Marjorie (Nichols) Jones. Bob attended schools in Delmar, NY, graduating from Bethlehem Central High School in 1955. He served in the National Guard from 1954-1955 and later was on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957, in Detroit, Michigan. In 1957, he enrolled at Canton ATC, graduating in 1959 with a major in Hotel and Resort Management. Bob was employed by The St. Moritz Hotel (now The Pines) from 1959-1961, the C. A. Bovard Co. from 1961-1966, the Raeoil Corp. from 1966-1981, several other oil companies from 1981-1988 and then was hired as a dispatcher for Hyde Fuel until retiring in 1997. He also drove carriage for Morgan’s Livery from 1998-2004 and delivered prescription drugs for Kinney Drugs for 12 years. Bob was an active member of The Adirondack Community Church, serving in many capacities. He was also president of the Lake Placid Kiwanis Club from 1977-1978. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Moorehead) Jones. Bob then married Linda (Chabot) Jones at a small church in Lake Clear, which was officiated by Rev. Mark Demers. They have been married for 27 years. Bob enjoyed boating, fishing, and in later years, motor cycling. Calling hours will be held for Bob on Monday, June 3rd from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Adirondack Community Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00. There will be a burial at St. Agnes Cemetery following the service. Rev Derek Hanson will officiate. American Legion, Post 326 Lake Placid will provide Military Honors. The M. B.
