Alice (Holt) Wood passed away August 10, 2024 in Stuart, Florida at the age of 92.
Alice was born February 22, 1932 to her parents Ernest and Jane Holt in Lake Placid, New York. Alice graduated from the Lake Placid School System and continued her education at Plattsburgh State where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.
After college Alice returned to Lake Placid where she taught for her entire career. She was a beloved teacher, active member of the Lake Placid community, serving on numerous boards, singing in the Adirondack Community Church, and always enjoyed participating in the Red Hat Society.
Upon her retirement she moved to Stuart, Florida and found happiness again in the Red Hatters, retired teachers group and once again singing this time in the First United Church choir where she found dear friends.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, her sister Dorothy Proulx, her first husband Paul (Bud) Colby, and her second husband Bertman Wood.
A graveside gathering will be held in the spring of 2025. In her honor contributions can be made to The Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid, New York.
