Obituary of Josephine D. Small

Josephine Denton Small passed away peacefully at 9:40 am on Sunday, September 8, 2024. She was born on July 15th, 1923. So she lived to be 101! Josephine met Tom Small in 1944 and, after a brief courtship, they married and she moved from her hometown of McMinnville, TN with her new husband to Brinklow MD. They lived in Maryland raising three children until 1986. At that time, they moved to the Adirondacks where they had been spending their summers for many years. They loved the Adirondacks! After Tom passed away in 1998, Josephine continued to live in their home until she needed some assistance in 2022. She moved to Will Rogers in Saranac Lake where, in a short time, she made many new friends. She really enjoyed her time there. Jo is survived by her three children, Tom Small Jr. who lives in Saranac Lake, Marilyn Petersen of Naples FL, and Gail Ruppert who lives in Lake Placid. She also had nine grandchildren two of whom preceded her in death, sixteen great grandchildren and many friends of all ages. A cheerful, charming person, she will be missed by many. The M. B.
