Obituary of Nancy L. Morelli

After a hard fought battle with cancer, Nancy L. (Berger) Morelli of Lake Placid, New York passed away August 26, 2014, at Elizabethtown Community Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. Nancy was born in Rochester, New York on January 31, 1963 to Carol Brown (Bigelow) and Ivan Berger. She graduated from Lake Placid High School in 1981 ("the Class with Class"). She received her B.A. in English from SUNY Purchase in 1989 and a Master's Degree in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh in 2007. She taught at St. Agnes School before becoming Director of the Lake Placid Public Library. She is survived by her two children Sophia and Michael (Mickey) Morelli (and dogs Bella, Roxy and Jake) her mother and stepfather, Carol and Robert Brown, her sisters, Patricia Warrington and husband Gary, of Brunswick New York and Krista Berger of Lake Placid, New York, her nieces Molly and Grace Warrington of Brunswick New York and nephew Zachary Berger of Lake Placid, New York and a close friend James Johnston of Wilmington, New York and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father Ivan Berger, grandparents William and Pearl (Tanzman) Berger and Phelps and Marguerite (O'Neil) Bigelow. Nancy also leaves behind her library family of co-workers, board members and patrons who were a very special part of her life. Nancy was a lifelong resident of Lake Placid and touched many lives in this community in her quiet and caring way. Nancy loved the Adirondack mountains and lakes that she called home, but also had a very special place in her heart for St. John, U.S.V.I. Nancy was a firm believer in reusing and spent many happy hours searching for treasures at thrift shops and garage sales. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to the Lake Placid Public Library or the Ecumenical Charities. Calling hours will be at the M. B. Clark Funeral Home on Friday, August 29 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with a prayer service to follow at 7:00pm. Rev. John Yonkovig will officiate. A private graveside service and burial will held at the convenience of the family.
