Obituary of Irene Caroline Osso Adler

Irene Caroline Adler, 92, of Grandview Ave, Lake Placid, New York passed away November 26, 2015 at her home. She was born September 2, 1923 in New York City, NY the daughter of Abraham and Marie (Osso) Tonkonogy. Mrs. Adler was the wife of Bernard W. Adler, who predeceased her Dec. 17, 2009. Irene was a graduate of Hunter College, New York, NY. Along with her husband Bernie, Irene was Owner-Operator of The Swiss Shop and The United World Shop. Irene Volunteered as a teachers aid in the Lake Placid, NY school system upon retirement. She was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served as president of the Lake Placid PTA. She is survived by Mark and Debora Adler of Lake Placid, NY Lawrence and Eva Adler of Cambridge, MA, and Jon Adler of Denver, CO. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eric and Lauren Adler, Matthew and Andrea Adler, Jamie and Leigh LaMent, John and Ashley Rose, Emily and Daniel Freidman, Paul and Jenya Adler. Sammi Adler and her husband Brian Blyth, and Marissa Adler. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Ella Adler, Zoe, Wyatt and Griffin LaMent, Lily and Clementine Rose and Sophia and Caleb Freidman and Juliette Adler. Also surviving are her companions and caregivers Katya Trellis-Strafford, and Liz Wenham. Irene and Bernie had a loving marriage lasting 68 years. Along with her parents and her husband she was predeceased by one brother, Robert Osso. At Irene's request there will be no memorial or religious ceremony, and no flowers, please.
