Catherine M. Sponable, "Mimo", a resident of Lake Placid, NY since 1971 died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 peacefully at home.
She was born in New York City November 5, 1926, the daughter of Earl I. Sponable and Marie B. (Whalen) Sponable.
Mimo was a graduate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1946 and received her Masters of Science degree from New York University in 1948.
Mimo was awarded the Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice Cross by Pope Francis on October 16, 2013, the highest honor bestowed upon a member of the laity by the Pope for distinguished service to the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church, Lake Placid, on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
