Obituary of Andrew Alexander Morford

Andrew A. Morford, age 99, of Lake Placid, NY passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, NY. Mr. Morford was born January 26, 1917 in AuSable Forks, NY. He is the son of the late Wallace M. and the late Mamie (Banker) Morford. He was the husband of Doretta Mary (Peryea) Morford, she predeceased him March 5, 1999. Mr. Morford was a graduate of Keeseville, High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He served in the Army during World War II from 09-05-1941 to 07-27-1945 under General George Patton -3rd Army 6th Armored Division as a Reconnaissance Sargent. He was wounded at Batstone Belgium. He earned the American Defense Service medal; Bronze Star Medal; European African Middle Eastern Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Purple Heart; He had worked as a union pipe fitter for 15 years. At the time of his retirement he worked out of Glens Falls, NY local 773, Union Hall. Mr. Morford loved the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the time he spent at camp with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his friends Carol and Ernie Lantiegne of Mexico, NY hunting and fishing in Lake Ontario. He is survived by one daughter, Andrea Morford Lawrence and her husband Adrian P. Lawrence of Wilmington, NY, two sons; Rickey W. Morford and his wife Ann (Nugent) Morford of Lake Placid, NY and Ronald J. Morford and his wife Karen of Durango, CO. He is also has 9 Grandchildren and 18 great grangchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Walace and Mamie, his wife Doretta and one grandson Coleman T. Morford. There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 20th at 1:00 PM at the M. B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY with an American Legion Prayer Service at 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Rev. Ingrid Johnson and the American Legion, Post 326 Lake Placid, NY will officiate. Cremation will follow. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in AuSable Forks, NY at a later date.
