I graduated from Scotia High School with John in 1957. John was a very kind and considerate friend and classmate. When he sang with the Choraliers you could tell how much he enjoyed singing. I am very happy that I saw John last year at the 50 plus reunion. He and Mickey looked wonderful. I will always remember having seen him last year. John will never be forgotten.

John was a man of high quality and huge expectations. When he believed in something and knew it was right, he rallied around others who believed like him and work on those that had other thoughts to create a direction that was strong, valid, realistic and factual. As a true team leader, director, motivator, teacher and friend, he made you feel like a real person and you wanted to associate with him as much as possible. John could take a human and help them discover that unpolished gift that they possessed but had not used and help them grow that talent, standing alongside them, ready to pick you back up again or kick you in the pants when you stumbled.
I have seen so many people who have achieved great things and been blessed by John's love and support and I am so grateful to be one of those persons! Thank you John....the world is a better place because of you!

The reason John's name appears on the lists of leadership in so many organizations is because he was so deeply respected and highly regarded. In my experience as we worked together at Adirondack Community Church, his was a non-anxious presence, a voice that didn't have to shout to be heard because of the integrity of what he had to say. I don't know ... did John ever think of me as his "pastor"? But this I DO know - I came to value, respect - even love this man as a companion and fellow traveler in life. I am saddened to think of the world without him.

My deepest sympathies to the Lansing family. I will miss working with John at the Historical Society. He was always such a big help during Heritage Day and you could sense the love he had for Lake Placid every time he spoke about preserving its history! You will be missed John and love and prayers to your family!

John has so deeply touched and impacted my life, career, and spirit that words are hard to find. He was my mentor, friend, and taught me how to live life in a more healthy way. I will always treasure him and will miss him deeply for the rest of my life. I will be forever grateful for the talks, training, and laughs we shared. I will be praying for his wonderful Mickey and the rest of the family as we all say "Until we meet again" to this fine and beloved man.
