Robert F. "Bob" Miller, 88, of Sebring, FL, formerly of Malone passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, FL. He was born in Newport, NY July 28, 1924 a son of the late Alden and Emily (Guller) Miller.
Bob served his country with the US Air Force from 1944 to 1946 as a B-24 Pilot where he flew Air Offensive in Japan. He earned the American Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal.
Following his honorable discharge from the US armed forces, Bob became a New York State Trooper and worked out of Troop B in Malone from 1950 to 1977, retiring as Sergeant. He also served one term as Mayor of Malone, NY.
In addition to his parents, Bob, was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marie May, a daughter, Mary Jo, a sister Carolyn Heins, and two brothers Stewart J. and Alden W. Miller.
His loving family includes his sister, Katherine Nancy McLarney, his brother Edward A. Miller, his son Gary Miller and wife, Dora, his daughter Bobbi Cugno and partner Ken, his granddaughters Jodie and Alicia, and his great-granddaughters Josephine, Jillian and Nora. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Prayer Service will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, October 6, at Sacred Heart Church, Church St., Chazy, NY with Rev. William Gordon, retired, officiating.
Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Arrangements are in the care of M.B. Clark Funeral Home, 196 Elm St., Champlain, NY.
