With deep sadness, we learned of Mr. Reiss’ passing. This was a man of a different age and American spirit, who will not soon be forgotten. In Wilmington, where Whiteface Mountain actually exists, he had the vision to create an economic engine that drove families far and near to a joyful experience. With his always nearby wingman, Mr. John Zachy, the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce had a much easier mandate in filling restaurant seats, selling motel rooms and sending folks directly into the grocery stores. During the Christmas Previews, parents bought skis for their enchanted kids at Draper’s and Otto Schniebs’ ski shops. Down the mountain, some folks even stayed at the Lussi’s first Holiday inn.* And anyone in need of work--kids, adults and even aspiring Santas--had another job, if not a home up the hill. Personally, we’ll always remember him bringing a fast smile to our Mom’s face, as a town councilman and businessman, and a quick laugh to our Aunt Mary, who for years spent time on the lake you can see from the backside of the mountain with all those happy Reiss kids. Our deepest condolences to the entire Reiss family on your loss. Mr. Reiss was something else and our loss, too. - The Huntingtons

Bob Reiss will certainly be missed by many! Our deepest condolences on your loss! For many years Families First worked with Bob to obtain a grant through the Reiss Foundation so that kids from Essex County could have a week long summer camp experience. Families First, along with Bob and his family strongly believe that a camp experience is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn new skills and build self esteem. We will greatly miss working with Bob, but look forward to continuing to work with his family in the future.

Bob & Paul Reiss receiving an "Outstanding Community Partner Award" at the Families First Annual Board meeting in April 2015. We will deeply miss working with Bob each year to apply for a grant from the Reiss Foundation so that kids from Essex County could experience a weeklong summer day camp experience. Bob and his family believe strongly in the summer camp experience and the tremendous self esteem and learning that happens for kids at camp. We look forward to continuing to work with Bob's family to ensure that this partnership continues. Our deepest condolences - JoAnne Caswell, Executive Director, Families First

As a former employee of Santa's Workshop, I would like to thank Mr. Reiss for one of the best experiences of my life. Not only did he make this a fun and magical place to work, he also made you feel like you were part of a great big family. You will always be remembered fondly by the countless number of children that you made smile and the many people you gave a chance at employment in such a small town. You will be missed.

It has been a great privilege to know and work with Bob throughout the years - both as a sidekick at Santa's Workshop, and as a historian. His contributions to the betterment of society are a lasting legacy of his life. He added so much joy to the lives of those who knew him in his role as Jack Jingles. Godspeed in your new adventure Bob. Sympathy and condolence to the family. Julie
